When asked what I would like for Christmas I could only come up with one thing: solitude and time at the beach. The tides were on my side, a morning walk was quickly arranged and I was off to Clarke Head.

I have lost count of how often I have walked this stretch of beach, the inter tidal zone. It never gets old! It’s best during the colder season as I rarely meet another soul.

-9 C was not cold at all, the wind held off and I made good progress. The beach stretches 3 km one way and there are always new things to discover…
The gravel has shifted significantly since my last visit two months agoCape Split and Partridge Island in the distanceThe Old Man sea stackAnd “Ol’ Steadfast” hangs on storm after stormSolstice Troll is sporting fur-lined boots for winter, it seems.I always love this red and grey formation Nearly there…Clarke Head, still standing! It was magical, there I was, just a speck in the landscape, breathing in the salty air, listening to the waves, feeling a slight breeze brushing my cheeks and playing with my hair… my gift was unwrapped and it was even better than I expected. The tide was about to turn so I made my way back slowly…
Across the sandy path Between seaweed covered rocksToward Parrsboro, now shrouded in mist Those cliffs!Awe-inspiring! I heard her foot steps first… a lone runner in the distance Nearly back at window rockRed cliffs…Frozen in time…Waterfalls! Love it when water freezes!
Thank you for coming along for my morning walk recap! Wishing everyone a Christmas Day filled with quiet joyful moments and peace!
Wishing you a Happy New Year and many more beach walks to enjoy.
