Heritage/Family Day Friendship Hike
Watch out: if you are a newcomer to our shore I might nab you and drag you to one of my favourite places… Clarke Head! Despite the early morning snow fall and strong wind that started up around the time we set out for the beach hike, we forged ahead. Following the tide out weContinue reading “Heritage/Family Day Friendship Hike”
Group outing to Phinney Green
What happens when the call for a group hike generates this much interest? It provides me with the confirmation that I am able to fill a need in the Parrsboro area. Each Wednesday hike has seen our group growing larger! What a way to fill Wednesday afternoons! Sharing my passion for the Cliffs of FundyContinue reading “Group outing to Phinney Green”
Hard to believe…
…it’s January. Very little snow, Canada Geese enjoying the sunshine in Parrsboro’s inner harbour and no winter weather in sight…
Another Sunday, Another New Trail to Discover
There was a chill in the air but I had planned to check out a new trail as a possibility for my Wednesday hikers. My friend and I enjoyed the hike, we even found a way to make the original trail connect to create a loop. The terrain was steep, too steep for the variedContinue reading “Another Sunday, Another New Trail to Discover”
New Trail Scouting Excursion
After yesterday’s storm it was time to get outside. I was also curious about the snow. As you can see in the images, there isn’t much white stuff around here. Back to scouting trails in general: When I activated my satellite communication device at the beginning of the month I received a six month freeContinue reading “New Trail Scouting Excursion”
Winter Watch From The Couch
The storm arrived around 3 pm this afternoon. We had not seen such high tidal activity since Christmas 2022. Within ten minutes visibility was poor and I counted my blessings for the warm house. An hour later things had calmed down and the tide receded. But this didn’t last long. Rain is creating rivulets onContinue reading “Winter Watch From The Couch”
Revisiting First and Second Beaches
The weather cooperated and the wind wasn’t too strong to walk these beaches close to home. 6 km on a Sunday afternoon!
It’s The Little Things…
…we delight in during a grocery run. The light near Five Islands was magical and drew us is! Every second the light changed! So grateful for living in paradise! Happy Weekend to all!
First Winter Hike Recap in Pictures
I started offering free hikes to Parrsboro Shore community members from January through March 2023. Building on last year’s popularity I am organizing more hikes from January through March 2024. We kicked the season off today by circling the Five Islands Estuary Trail Loop. Six humans and one canine enjoyed nature and each other’s company.Continue reading “First Winter Hike Recap in Pictures”
Happy New Year, one and all!!
We woke up to the best news from Germany! Meet Louis, our grand-nephew, and our very own New Year’s baby in the family. He ignored all the due-date estimations and followed through on my prediction of arriving on January 1st.🎉🎉🎉 I started the year out fulfilling a promise to myself: my annual pilgrimage to ClarkeContinue reading “Happy New Year, one and all!!”
The Cliffs are Disintegrating!
The annual scheduled birthday beach clean up with friends was cancelled due to the weather forecast. When I didn’t hear back from one of my out-of-town friends I decided to head to the beach and intercept him just in case. The road was wet! How wet? When the pine needles begin to form patterns youContinue reading “The Cliffs are Disintegrating!”
Beach Treasures
And watching the wind create amazing patterns… Happy Friday, friends!
Winter Solstice Blessings
Yesterday’s glorious sunset promised a beautiful day ahead. Well, Mother Nature had a different idea. We woke up to strong winds and grey sky. Friends who had expressed interest in participating in the hike decided against battling the elements. The fact that there is no such thing as bad weather when one has proper clothingContinue reading “Winter Solstice Blessings”
Winter Wind!
The weather predictions are real: it has been very windy all day, a typical pre-winter day with rain and wind. I couldn’t resist stopping at First Beach on the way home from appointments. Enjoy!
Annual Winter Solstice Hike
Join us for our second annual Winter Solstice hike to Clarke Head. This event is carefully timed to coincide with low tide and sunset on December 21st. Our destination is Clarke Head Arch where we will build a small solstice fire and share a hot beverage and seasonal home-made treats. There will be time toContinue reading “Annual Winter Solstice Hike”
Answering the call…
…of the beach! Planning has begun for the annual Winter Solstice hike to Clarke Head. Check back tomorrow for details. If the video above is intriguing mark your calendar for December 21st when you could be part of the 2023 Solstice celebration and enjoy this view!
Planning ahead…
My goal for tomorrow: Clarke Head. Working on getting my lung capacity back to where it was before I got sick mid-November. The cough is persistent and do very tiring! The tide for tomorrow is perfect for a mid-day hike on the beach.
Shifting Gears…
After the arrival of our first significant snowfall, it is time to share the lineup for winter activities! Click here to check out our Winter Activities!
Soley Cove on a Sunday Morning
Our internet was restored a short while ago and I can finally post the great photos from the Soley Cove excursion yesterday morning. It was my pleasure to take the new owners of the Parrsboro Mansion on a complimentary ocean floor tour. We had planned this outing for several weeks. Yesterday everything was perfect: theContinue reading “Soley Cove on a Sunday Morning”
