Puddle Exploration

On a chilly day long walks are usually not by choice. I made a quick trip to take a letter to the post office yesterday and it was C-O-L-D. And then I stumbled across this puddle. Talk about going down the rabbit hole… till my hands were so cold I could no longer hold onContinue reading “Puddle Exploration”

Disappearing Boulders

Parrsboro’s Second Beach had some impressive sights yesterday afternoon. At first glance these formations looked like sandstone boulders. Walking closer they revealed themselves as ice formations covered in Red Fundy Mud. It was a sight to treasure! To show how massive these icy boulders were I included an image of my friend next to one.Continue reading “Disappearing Boulders”

Fleeting…

I inhaled deeply when I arrived at the beach yesterday: fresh, salty air, a little sunshine overhead and other-worldly ice sculptures only Mother Nature can create greeted me. It felt so good to get out, walk between the large rocks of First Beach toward these pink sand coloured monsters. Click on the third image inContinue reading “Fleeting…”

Yearning for Spring.,,

As I look out the window and observe snow changing to rain and back to snow again all within minutes, my eye catches a flash of green reminding me that the countdown to spring is indeed progressing… 39 days and counting. Happy Wednesday! Stay warm and dry, wherever you are, Anna

Next, please…

Big water drops are forming with the next episode of our wether pattern this year. When we first arrived in Nova Scotia a friend told me that when these drops form and hang from the bare branches of the winter tree, a lot more rain is on the way. The snow is melting, creating hugeContinue reading “Next, please…”

Seeking and Finding Inspiration

When winter days appear too similar, without too many changes and little easing of the cold it’s time to examine the landscape for subtle changes. Inspiration is everywhere: from snow covered backyards polished by rain and wind to shards of ice reaching from their watery depths like alligators. A five minute backyard excursion yields visualContinue reading “Seeking and Finding Inspiration”

Morning Glow…

Greetings from an ice covered Nova Scotia! For most of the night we witnessed rain mixed with ice-pellets and this morning cars are covered in shiny icy crusts… the roads are very slippery… businesses are either staying shut or closing early adding an extra day of rest for the weekend. The images I am sharingContinue reading “Morning Glow…”

Small Surprises

While scanning the shoreline during my backyard excursion this tiny area caught my attention. A large ice floe was pushed up against the shore casting a protective shadow over the hoarfrost covered clump of dry grass… a truly contemplative moment. May your Thursday be filled with sunshine. Best wishes, Anna

Ever-changing!

I don’t have to venture far when it comes to beautiful sights that inspire: our backyard provides amazing subject matter for my daily post. After a long day on the road Monday, I didn’t feel like heading to the beach. My heart still got a workout navigating over and through snow drifts as I madeContinue reading “Ever-changing!”

Contrast

Finding interest in a snowy landscape thanks to a branch ripped from the tree during last weekend’s storm is a nice change from the usual beach. The afternoon light was perfect for casting shadows and adding drama to this humble backyard scene… Enjoy your day. Best wishes, Anna

Digging out…

… from the latest snow storm! We are grateful: for heat, electricity, good food and the amazing caring neighbours who lend a hand where needed! Thank you Parrsboro! Happy Sunday. We look forward to sunny weather shortly. Best wishes, Anna

Storm Stayed…

Yes, it’s the weekend and after a reprieve from snow and wind last weekend we make up for it this time. It’s the third weather system in Atlantic Canada this January and the snow is being driven sideways. We were warned about the “weather bomb” earlier in the week and I was so grateful thatContinue reading “Storm Stayed…”

Colour Burst

I wasn’t going to share this image here because I already posted this amazing sunset capture on my Instagram and FaceBook accounts. However, I realize not everyone uses social media. When a personal request to repost my image on a local community FaceBook bulletin board arrived a little while ago I decided to share theContinue reading “Colour Burst”

No matter what the weather…

Clarke Head on a Sunday morning… moving from light snow to full sunshine along the Fundy Shore!
