Soley Cove in September
September started on a positive note! These fun-loving folk on their way to an Airstream meet-up stopped by to walk on the ocean floor! What a great bunch: their curiosity and sense of wonder made for some magical moments. Soley Cove never disappoints.
Early morning light…
This lovely couple cashed in a gift certificate to explore Clarke Head Arch and the stretch of beach that leads to this impressive landmark along the Parrsboro shore. The perfect activity to start a weekend!
Family Geology Tour…
In the footsteps of Eldon George… this budding geologist from the Ottawa region was keen to check out the beaches at Wasson’s Bluff and Two Islands today! There were shiny rocks and hermit crabs galore, skipping rocks was another interest and just wading in the water at low tide kept us cool and focussed. ThereContinue reading “Family Geology Tour…”
Emergency Readiness – What To Do If Things Go Sideways
Welcome back to Part 5 of our mini-series The Well-prepared Hiker! There’s a saying that “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure” — and nowhere is that truer than when heading out into nature. While we always hope for clear skies and smooth trails, a little preparation ensures even unexpected bumps alongContinue reading “Emergency Readiness – What To Do If Things Go Sideways”

Looking for Treasures…
I enjoyed this Sunday morning tour with Deb and her grandson studying rocks and minerals around Partridge Island. Deb had contacted me a few weeks ago to see if I would accommodate them for a treasure hunt. The tides were favourable. We explored the weir, the beach, columnar basalt cliffs and spent time warming upContinue reading “Looking for Treasures…”

Great Custom Tour with Clients from Alaska!
I just knew that an email ten days ago would bring very motivated clients my way! The brief requested a walk on the ocean floor and exploring dinosaurs! My initial hesitation centred around the fact that these best friends were arriving via cruise ship in Halifax and the logistics of getting them to the area.Continue reading “Great Custom Tour with Clients from Alaska!”
Nova Scotia Showcase: Saltscapes Expo 2023
Our day started early: Destination the annual Saltscapes Expo at Halifax Exhibition Centre. We volunteered for the Cliffs of Fundy Geopark. Bushwhacking the Economy Trail Loop at Thomas Cove
I had not been here in a little over three months and what a surprise we had. I always considered this trail easy to navigate. Yes, there are exposed roots and a few muddy sections to consider but overall I felt it was suitable for most abilities. My trail test subject today was Colin. WeContinue reading “Bushwhacking the Economy Trail Loop at Thomas Cove”
Custom Variety Tour a Success!
It’s always a great day when a pre-booked tour turns out even better than expected! The Meeting of the Waters Tour was what alerted this family to my offerings. We started there, overlooking Two Islands from the cat-bird seat, witnessing the tide rush in and swallowing up the sandy portion of the beach in recordContinue reading “Custom Variety Tour a Success!”
Touring my Friend’s Garden
It’s always a treat to tour Liz’s garden. The way she has her property divided into individual “rooms” is truly inspiring! Her lilies beckoned and demanded my attention! I hope you enjoyed this little garden tour from the outskirts of Parrsboro! Wishing everyone a fabulous weekend, Anna
Epic Lobster Boil at the Beach
Last evening’s lobster boil was scheduled to take place at the beach. I was glad I selected Partridge Island Beach with a couple shelters over the picnic table. I had prepared well but as I drove to the venue I saw lighting… pretended it didn’t happen and carried on. Trying to set the table withContinue reading “Epic Lobster Boil at the Beach”
Hired to guide… thanks to a Google search!
This was definitely a first for me! A travel influencer family from Florida found me on Google while planning their Nova Scotia itinerary. I had forgotten that there would be filming… I had agreed to that in the contact email but assumed it would be all about the landscape. Well, it was about the landscapeContinue reading “Hired to guide… thanks to a Google search!”
