With a chance of rain in the forecast we decided to defy the weather man and head to Spencer’s Island as the tide was on the way out. This beach is the most colourful beach in the area. The closer we got to the “point” and the island the more colourful the rocks seemed toContinue reading “Gentle Beach Hike at Spencer’s Island”

Beach Impressions
Up close and personal … no words necessary! Enjoy, Anna
Soley Cove: Even More Amazing…
…without the stiff breeze and rolling waves from two days ago! Just look at the perfect reflections as the tide slowly receded. We headed out thinking we were two lonely beach explorers… until a large group of hikers (I counted 20 individuals) appeared from nowhere noisily shouting, their voices echoing from the aolian sandstone cliffs.Continue reading “Soley Cove: Even More Amazing…”
Last Day of Touring with my Guest from Montreal…
Soley’s Cove was the destination of choice. No, it’s not first on the list for rock picking but my client had seen a recent blog post about a Soley Cove excursion and put in a special request. The weather and tides were in our favour and the opportunities to explore were unlimited! Everyone delighted inContinue reading “Last Day of Touring with my Guest from Montreal…”
Spring “Breezes” won’t hold us back!!
It was a little breezy today… check out the second image above. In fact it was so windy that no matter how we leaned into the wind we remained upright! 😊 Our destination this afternoon was the back beach of Partridge Island. But my suspicion came true: the low tide level was just not lowContinue reading “Spring “Breezes” won’t hold us back!!”
First Client of the Season: Mission “Rockhound“
We met via Facebook last year: a prospective visitor the Parrsboro Shore looking for a guide to navigate the highest tides in the world! The official listed businesses she contacted didn’t respond, some FB comments suggested she better not plan on coming if she didn’t understand the tides… I sent a private Message and offeredContinue reading “First Client of the Season: Mission “Rockhound“”
Thomas Cove, Part Three
All good things come in threes… at least that’s what my grandmother used to say. The sun beckoned today and I could not stay inside. So, back to Thomas Cove, I went with my friend Robyn. It was time for checking trails for the third time this week😃 The tide was rolling in, the windContinue reading “Thomas Cove, Part Three”
Yesterday…
…Mother Nature sent a message to remind us to stay humble. Snow and freezing rain created fleeting jewels on tree branches and beach treasures. The ice crust and icicles didn’t last long after I captured them in photos. Friday blessings Anna
Clarke Head Afternoon Hike
It was a quiet, contemplative excursion to Clarke Head this afternoon. We spent time examining rocks, discovering pyrite, admiring more sparkle on the water, walking among seaweed covered rocks and soaking in the spring breeze. Happy Monday! Best wishes for a productive week, Anna
The Question…
Jurassic sandstone Weathered for millennia – When will it break off?
Clarke Head “Clear Your Head With a Friend” Hike
On the spur of the moment my friend Lori and I decided to head to Clarke Head as the tide rushed out late afternoon Tuesday. It was the perfect ending to a busy day. Hope you are enjoying a relaxing Thursday evening. We are safely tucked in with Old MannWinter holding on and gifting usContinue reading “Clarke Head “Clear Your Head With a Friend” Hike”
First Time Visitors to Soley Cove
Spring arrived accompanied by strong winds today. It was the only day that worked to fit a Soley Cove excursion into the schedule. The ancient landscape never disappoints! The light was variable and yielded some unusual and unexpected images. Once again, Soley Cove spread its magic and my tour participants were truly impressed by theContinue reading “First Time Visitors to Soley Cove”
Moody Thomas Cove
It was high time for a return to Thomas Cove in Lower Economy. The entrance to Economy Point Road is off Hwy 209 past the Cliffs of Fundy Welcome Centre in Economy toward Truro, a 35 minute drive from Parrsboro. The last time I visited was nearly two years ago in June. Today we wereContinue reading “Moody Thomas Cove”
More Sights to Explore at Low Tide
I have not posted about the Parrsboro Golf Club before. It’s high time to point out that this nine hole course is considered challenging and one of the most scenic courses in Canada. It is located on Two Islands Road approximately 3 km from the centre of town. I shall be back for more imagesContinue reading “More Sights to Explore at Low Tide”
Waiting Out The Storm
It’s mid-March and we are looking at “sideways snow” outside our windows. Once the wind picked up this afternoon I could no longer ignore the fact that Old Man Winter isn’t quite done with us yet. Perhaps reviewing some of the recent beach ice images will lift everyone’s spirit.😊 Enjoy the rest of your day,Continue reading “Waiting Out The Storm”
Diligent River Low Tide Exploration in Sunshine
Diligent River is a great place to explore in any weather and season. Today I arrived precisely at low tide with glorious sunshine overhead and I was able to take advantage of the full expanse of the beach. Even the Ramshead River was so low that if I had worn rubber boots I could haveContinue reading “Diligent River Low Tide Exploration in Sunshine”
Sunday Hike Adventure
The plan was to hike along the beach from Red Rocks to Refugee Cove, depending on the cooperation of the tide. Well, let’s just say “The Mistress of the Bay”, as my friend calls the Bay of Fundy tide, was not in the mood for a waltz or Foxtrott today. We made good time toContinue reading “Sunday Hike Adventure”
Tide Rollers & Mudlarkers: Excitement is Building!!
I have been spending a bit too much time in the office lately. Getting ready for tourist season is exciting but looking at so many hike destination images I yearn for some much needed outdoor time. And yet it’s important that all necessary steps are taken to ensure safety measures are in place, insurance policyContinue reading “Tide Rollers & Mudlarkers: Excitement is Building!!”
